River of Words

River of Words is an international poetry and art contest for children in kindergarten through twelfth grade that invites students to explore their own watershed, discover its importance in their lives, and express in words and images what they have learned, felt, and observed.  You can view the winners from 2009, 2008, 2005, 2004, and 2003.

SRWP Waterways Newsletter

The Sacramento River Watershed Program (SRWP) publishes a quarterly newsletter entitled Waterways - Sacramento River Watershed Program. This newsletter contains information about the activities of the SRWP, watershed and grant information, activities of other related programs, and items of interest to stakeholders living and working in the Sacramento River watershed. All past issues of Waterways are available online in PDF format.

Sacramento Bee Insert

The 16-page publication A Journey through the Sacramento River Watershed appeared as an insert in the the October 13, 2007 edition of the Sacramento Bee. SRWP partnered with the Sacramento Stormwater Quality Partnership, Department of Water Resources, Department of Health Services, and Sacramento Bee to produce the insert. The insert includes great information about our watershed for both kids and adults. You can learn more about the publication and download the insert here.

Education Grants

The SRWP Public Outreach and Education Subcommittee (POES) has provided K-12 Education Grants to ten groups in 2000 and 2001. Due to a reduction in funding we are currently only providing support for Environmental Education Training for the River of Words Curriculum and GLOBE. You can read the details of the grants here.
